Water System Update for Residents of MUDs 489, 490, & 491

Please be advised, on August 23, 2025 Inframark performed repairs at Harris County MUD 418 Water Treatment Plant 4 (WP4). While repairs were completed, WP4 experienced a temporary shut down. This shut down may have caused a change in flow and pressure in the distribution system servicing Harris County MUD 489, 490, and 491.

As a result, Residents of Harris County MUD 489, 490, and 491 may experience water discoloration. Additionally, Inframark will be conducting maintenance on the main water lines by flushing hydrants in Harris County MUD 491. Please be assured, water meets all TCEQ standards and is safe for consumption. If you experience water discoloration or pressure related issues, please contact Inframark via the below channels:

Addressing Water Quality Concerns in Harris County MUD No. 490 – What Residents Need to Know

Dear Harris County MUD No. 490 Resident,

Inframark has been made aware of ongoing water quality concerns in your District. As an immediate response, maintenance flushing of fire hydrants was increased. This is performed in an effort to move water through the distribution system faster and clear main lines of any potential debris. At this time, Inframark is coordinating action plans to further investigate and address the concerns.

Please be advised, beginning Tuesday, July 29, 2025, a third-party lab known as Water Utility Services will begin collecting samples from exterior Residential spigots within your District. Water Utility Services is an accredited Texas Commission on Environmental Quality lab. Upon collection, you may notice a sample technician approach the side of your home.

While sampling occurs, Inframark will be working in the background to implement a Directional Flushing Plan. Directional Flushing is a controlled method used to clean out water distribution systems and differs from standard maintenance flushing practices as it is a strategic, more aggressive form of treatment. As the plan is finalized, additional communication will be sent to Residents regarding dates and information.

A third step will be taken once Directional Flushing is complete involving a second round of sampling by Water Utility Services. Results will be used as a comparative measure and to determine next steps, as necessary.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this process. We understand water quality concerns can cause frustration and agree that action and resolution is necessary. Inframark encourages the community to continue reporting water quality concerns via channels listed below:

  • BWAConnect Mobile Application
  • Inframark Customer Service: (281) 579-4500
  • Inframark 24/Hour Dispatch: (281) 398-8211

Thank you,

Mackenzie Johnson
